Toni Williamson

Toni Williamson, PhD, Senior Vice President, Pharmacology and Translational Research

Toni Williamson is a seasoned scientist with over two decades of experience in biotech and pharmaceutical drug discovery and development. She was previously Senior Director of Non-Clinical Research at Flexion Therapeutics, and before that held positions at Trophos, Merck, and Amgen. Tony’s main research interests lie in drug discovery and development for the neuroscience therapeutic area, including neurodegeneration, pain and psychiatry. She received her undergraduate degree in biochemistry and physiology from the University of Reading (in the U.K.) and her PhD in developmental neurobiology from King’s College London. She completed her postdoctoral training with Dr. Don Cleveland at Johns Hopkins Medical School and Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research, UCSD, where she conducted research on mouse models of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
